Hungary's second big rally against newly-elected PM Viktor Orban
An estimated 100,000 took to the streets in Hungary to protest the media policies and campaign against non-governmental organisations by the government of Prime Minister Viktor Orban, according to organisers.It was the second consecutive Saturday rally in the Hungarian capital, Budapest.

An estimated 100,000 Hungarians marched in protest against the government of Viktor Orbán on Saturday night, less than a week after the prime minister won an unexpected landslide election victory. Asked about the prospect of forthcoming demonstrations, Mr Orban simply replied: "We won, that's it." A similar number of people attended a pro-Orban demonstration last month.

The tallying of all votes cast in last Sunday's parliamentary election has been completed, and the final result has been published for each electoral district. The Fidesz-Christian Democratic People's Party (KDNP) alliance will have a two-thirds majority in the new parliament.

A Facebook group calling itself Talpra Magyar Hív A Szabadság ("On your feet Hungarian Freedom is Calling!") is organizing a mass protest for Saturday, April 14th, at 5:30 pm. The event organizers of the "We are the majority" demonstration invite those to attend "who would like a free Hungary, and who want a hate-free politics and who even want life in this smothering environment."

Democratic Coalition chairman Ferenc Gyurcsány announced at a press conference on Tuesday that his party was formally requesting copies of all the hand-written documents prepared at polling stations so that they can be compared with official election results posted to the internet.

The National Election Office published the final composition of the new Hungarian parliament. From this we see that Fidesz has 134 seats, Jobbik has 25, MSZP-P has 20, the Democratic Coalition (DK) won 9 and LMP has 8. In addition, the now all-but-defunct Együtt party has one MP, there is one Independent (supported by the left) and the German minority list will send one MP to parliament as well.

Candidate coordination in Budapest and Pest county among Hungary's so-called democratic opposition would have denied Fidesz a two-thirds parliamentary majority, reports index.hu. Official election data published on valasztas.hu indicates that democratic opposition candidates could have won in all 18 Budapest electoral districts had LMP and more small parties withdrawn their candidates in a timely manner in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 14th districts.
