freelogoOur objective is to provide English speaking readers interested in Hungary with a well balanced view of political activities in Hungary by featuring contents from various printed and online sources together with our own commentaries. We are convinced that Hungary is built on all sorts of different ideas, thoughts and opinions and, despite of the new Media Law, our aim is to provide an alternative and reliable source of information – contrary to the one-sided press of the government – for those who want to hear the voice of a free Hungary.

Shame and fear - Comments -

If you review last week’s news, you can see the European Union has already dismissed Orbán, even if we Hungarians have not done it yet. The Hungarian prime minister is Europe’s loser who is quarantined as if he was infectious. Almost every day there is a rake-off turning out about Fidesz members. Their main ’56 revolution hero has lost all control with charging Gyula Horn, having caused a weakened position for Fidesz in Germany as a side effect. We already know a Fidesz’s representative woman in Zugló wishes the death of people living on welfare benefits. This makes no room for doubt about the real meaning of János Lázár’s humiliating comment on the ones living in poverty. Finally, we have Pál Schmitt, the old ’communist’ who was highly favored before the transition and whose past and whose linguistic mission are shielded now by the ’anticommunist’ Fidesz. Magyar Gárda’s and Fidesz’s common idol, Mária Wittner forgot to comment that a square near to Corvin alley was named after Elvis Presley instead of István Angyal. Roosevelt, who fought against Hitler is ready to depart too, as the square named after him is just about to be renamed after Széchenyi. I can already see the Hungarian-Russian economic relations starting to flourish as the Soviet memorial is removed. We shall have the return match in Amsterdam after the humiliating 0-4 score. Van Persie must be backed by Socialists as well. The Socialists who keep complaining to the EU – which we wanted to join actually.
Zsolt Gréczy, Népszava, March 28. 2011.
