New proposals by the Socialists

The Hungarian Socialist Party (MSZP) proposed a new deal, but it seems that it is not acceptable to the Democratic Coalition (DK), the party of former Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány.

There were two meetings organised between the MSZP and the DK during the last week, and meetings continued this week as well. However, the Együtt-Párbeszéd (Together dialogue) should also participate at the negotiations – said Csaba Molnár on the program Egyenes Beszéd (Straight Speech) on channel ATV.
One MEP for the Democratic Coalition said that in March, during the period of Botka, the Congress of DK decided that they do not want a common list and according to DK, this is the way to maximise the votes. He stated that this decision does not relate to whether Gyurcsány is on the list or not. However, the party voted on a matter of principle, in the case of having a common list, Gyurcsány must be present on that list – he said.
The only question, on which the viewpoints started to get closer was the distribution of the constituencies – said the politician of DK, who believes that the negotiations stalled during the last weeks, as the socialists proposed 16-17 new propositions that are not acceptable to the DK. The DK has only one request – explained Csaba Molnár – that the agreement should be proportional.
