Hungarians among the first initiators
According to Member of European Parliament (MEP) Mrs. Kinga Göncz, also vice-head of delegation of the Hungarian socialists in the European Parliament (EP), it was a symbolic fact that the very first civil initiative, registered by the European Commission (EC) was initiated by young Europeans.
Among the initiators there were also three young Hungarian to be found, as MEP Göncz said at the opening event of a campaign called ‘Fraternité 2020’ in the EP. The collection of signatures to support the initiative will be started in the end of this summer. Socialists and Democrats want bank services to be available to all
All citizens, regardless of their social situation, their resources or their place of residence should be able to have a bank account and carry out their banking transactions at a reasonable cost. As the European Union (EU) has not made sufficient progress in this area, the European Parliament (EP) called for the European Commission (EC) to act, in a resolution adopted with a large majority and with the support of all the Socialist and Democrat members of European Parliament (MEP’s), also supported by Hungarian socialist MEP’s in the EP. It is estimated that 7% of the adult population, that is about 30 million people in Europe, do not have a bank account. Large discrepancies exist from one country to another.

Tabajdi: Agricultural support will not decrease in 2013 in Hungary
Head of the Hungarian socialist delegation in the European Parliament, Mr. Csaba Tabajdi said that the report of the European Parliament makes it possible that the direct agriculture subsidies will not drop next year. This fact affects not only Hungary but all member states of the EU which have joint the Union lately. Member of European Parliament (MEP) Tabajdi added that we reached our aim at last, that old and new member states’ subvention levels were equalized by 2012. But Mr. Tabajdi also underlined the fact that the equalization of subsidies is not identical to the equalization of the amount of subsidies. MEP Tabajdi said that the European Commission still has to find a solution to treat old and new member states equally in the case of the Common Agriculture Policy (CAP).
