The Democratic Coalition (DK) initiates the permission for same-sex  marriage. They propose that the legislation should make possible for this kind of couple to have the equivalent rights as the heterosexual  families, for example adopting children. During  a press conference last Thursday Csaba Molnár, the vice-chairman of DK said that for this purpose they have made a modification to the law, which they will bring to the parliament just after having reconciliation with the gay organizations. According to his words the majority's duty is to stand for the minorities, their equality before the law, because it cannot be expected from them to promote their own interests alone.
gay marriage

He expounded, according to the policy of the progressive centre-left the state mustn't intervene in the private life of the citizens, it cannot force either of group's will or taste on anybody, it must respect the great variety of the society. He called it unacceptable that detrimental discrimination can befall anyone, or that anyone should have to be afraid because of their sexual identity, and he took a stand that the humiliation of the gays is "the shame of everyone".
He mentioned that the marriage of gays is free among the European member states in Spain, Portugal, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden, and its permission is in preparation in Finland,  Luxemburg as well as in France, and the British conservative government initiated it too.
According to Csaba Molnár Hungary is on the other hand, where "not just the extreme right but the governing right as well assumes their homophobia proudly". He gave the following explanation for his statement: the Fidesz-KDNP has fastened their opinion of the family  in the constitution, which means a marriage can take place only between a man and woman, that hurts and stigmatizes the community of gays.
The bigger problem is that - continued the vice-president of the DK - on the left-liberal side the silence and the "quiet antipathy"  against the gays are typical increasingly. The politicians are afraid of the loss of votes. That is the reason why they don't speak about the extension of the gays' rights.
At the same time he gave as a positive example that the president of the Vasas wrote as answer to the protesters against the Olympics of the gays that the club doesn't distinguish between those, who want to hire its properties, because of their identities.
