Our objective is to provide English speaking readers interested in Hungary with a well balanced view of political activities in Hungary by featuring contents from various printed and online sources together with our own commentaries. We are convinced that Hungary is built on all sorts of different ideas, thoughts and opinions and, despite of the new Media Law, our aim is to provide an alternative and reliable source of information – contrary to the one-sided press of the government – for those who want to hear the voice of a free Hungary.

The American organisation “Freedom House” published their annual report today, and Hungary has been reduced from a “Free” country to a “Partially Free” country. This is very bad news. I was hoping that we would have achieved “Not Free” status by now. Must try harder!

I was pleased to see that state news agency MTI are now rubbishing the former undersecretary of agriculture, József Ȧngyan. József resigned in January, because he was upset at the fact that the government is leasing the state owned agricultural land to my friends instead of to the poor farmers.  Recently he has been spilling the beans, so we must destroy his credibility. MTI made up a ridiculous story that he resigned because some of his communist friends in the ministry were sacked. A dirty trick, but being a farmer, I’m sure he is used to having muck thrown at him!!

The Mayday bank holiday. In my opinion, this is a socialist holiday, so I decided to work as a matter or principal!

My wife Aniko was annoyed that I decided to work. I suggested that she take the children to the family day on óbuda Island, organised by the far right party Jobbik. I heard that there would be lots of activities for all the family, including Arts and Crafts, stalls selling good Hungarian fare, and the highlight of the day which was to be the burning of the E.U. flag.

“No, I think I’ll take them to City Park instead!” she shouted, and stormed out of the room. She knew that my arch enemy Ferenc Gyurcsány and his Democratic Coalition party was holding an event there, so she said this purely to piss me off!

Wednesday 2 May 2012

Today Parliament voted to appoint János Ȧder as the new President of Hungary. All of the Fidesz MPs voted in favour, so the motion was passed. Jobbik voted against the motion, and the other parties abstained because they do not approve of a party member being appointed to a post that is supposed to be above politics. But his appointment was democratic!

During his acceptance speech, János talked about how he believed that Hungarians should respect each other, and each other’s opinions. Over my dead body!

A long flight to Kazakhstan today. Europe is proving a very difficult partner to Hungary, with all their liberal values, such as freedom of press, and a fair judicial system, so it’s time we found some new friends. Kazakhstan is a very successful country that has managed to achieve staggering economic growth thanks to a good strong government (and a good supply of oil!). We are trying to promote the Hungarian oil company MOL, and have had some successful meetings today! Should help to achieve my target of 1 million new jobs – even if those jobs are actually abroad.

Friday 4 May 2012

Today I had a meeting with the President of Kazakhstan, Nursulan Nazarbayer. It was like I had met a long lost brother – we had so much in common. Nursulan has won all the presidential elections in Kazakhstan since it acceded from the Soviet Union. His secret, as he told me openly, is to imprison his political opponents, or beat them up. My type of man!

I promised to return to Astana to build on our great relationship.
