Our objective is to provide English speaking readers interested in Hungary with a well balanced view of political activities in Hungary by featuring contents from various printed and online sources together with our own commentaries. We are convinced that Hungary is built on all sorts of different ideas, thoughts and opinions and, despite of the new Media Law, our aim is to provide an alternative and reliable source of information – contrary to the one-sided press of the government – for those who want to hear the voice of a free Hungary.

We should catch speculants!
MEP Csaba Tabajdi said that European citizens were waiting for job creation, for the solution of the European economic crisis and for more honest information. Though the management of the economic governance of the European Union and the creation of a real political union are needed, the head of delegation of Hungarian socialists in the European Parliament underlined that Europeans citizens can hardly understand why the European Commission and the European Parliament are both unable to clear up which certain actors of the market and which speculants keep playing their games by making European member states going break-down. The MEP asked if the international financial market was simply invisible or which countries, firms or politicians were influencing the processes of speculation? According to MEP Tabajdi European citizens are waiting for the answer to this question.

We have to know our rights to being able to use them
Being a citizen of the European Union includes a lot of advantages to Europeans but it is hardly to be realized in practical life. This is an enormous challenge to the European Union to deconstruct barriers to make citizens able to exercise their own rights in an efficient way, as Member of European Parliament (MEP) Zita Gurmai said after different committees of the European Parliament have dealt the issue. The issue was started by the Petitions Committee (PETI). MEP Gurmai was responsible for completing the official opinion of the commission of Constitutional Affairs (AFCO).

Date of scientists and politicians
Members of European Parliament (MEPs) dealing the scientific and industry policy were joined by scientists taking part in the program of the science and technological institute of the European Union (Science and Technology Options Assessment, STOA). As a continuation of the program MEPs are going to join scientists in their institutes in spring 2012. MEP Edit Herczog, member of the Hungarian socialist delegation said, that science and politics are looking for solutions on global problems jointly while getting known each other’s activity. Researchers were given the chance to take part in the process of decision making directly in the offices of certain MEPs. As a return MEP Herczog is going to spend January 2012 in Manchester. At the University of Manchester she is going to get in direct touch with nuclear security through monitoring the work of scientist Dr. Stéphanie Cornet, including recycling and managing nuclear waste.
