Accountability commissioner Gyula Budai is the highest paid government commissioner and MP, with a gross monthly salary of more than HUF 2.2 million, Hungarian daily Népszabadság reported. Budai earns more than what Speaker László Kövér earns oficially - a monthly HUF 2.1 million, nearly half a million HUF more than PM Orbán. Parliament lowered MPs’ salaries in June, but the change in law did not apply – amongst others - to government commissioners.
