The Chief Prosecutor's Central Investigation Office has been investigating in connection with the malpractice of some high-value real estates in Sukoró, Albertirsa and Pilis since 2009. Ferenc Gyurcsány is now being accused of maladministration, assuming that he participated in the land lot swap by giving direct orders, which allegedly could have damage the state. But the transaction did not even take place. The real problem is not the dispute of some real estate agents concerning the real value of the properties. But the fact that Viktor Orbán was again led by his passion and phobia instead of his tactical sense when, following his implicit or explicit wish, the chief prosecutor accused Gyurcsány.
We expect huge media coverage of the prosecution due to the reputation of Mr. Gyurcsány. This attention is induced by the government, so it cannot be imposed on the opposition. In case the government wants to damp the cruelty of the upcoming restrictions with the Gyurcsány case, they make a huge mistake.
