Mahmoud Abbas gets very little in Budapest

In answer to a question, Abbas noted that international recognition of a sovereign Palestine within the 1967 borders, as given recently by 10 Latin American countries, was “an important step” but was not a substitute for ongoing peace talks with Israel. When asked if Hungary would take the unilateral step of recognising the sovereignty of the Palestinian territories, Schmitt said only that Hungary maintained “high-level” diplomatic relations with the area.
