András Nyitray, a member of the Fidesz parliamentary group stated a particularly strong hard-line opinion regarding the appropriate use of weapons at the time of street riots in the autumn of 2006. He shared his dictum in the Parliament’s Commission session that time, as the television channel ATV discovered it in the declassified archives. Nyitray accused the two responsible ministers of giving the instruction that banned the use of firearms during the assault against MTV’s headquarter. He said „it was just by a divine luck that no police officer died on the site while rioters kept throwing stones. If this is not a good enough reason for using weapons, then there is huge trouble”, he said.
